Thin windows and holes that do not close

Windows here are single panes in a thin frame. You miss triple glazing for about two days, until it occurs to you that with twenty degrees outside all year there is nothing to keep in.

The buildings go further. The laundry room often has no roof, and the toilet tends to have a decorative wall of pierced bricks that cannot be closed and is not meant to be. It is not unfinished, it is ventilation. Add bars on almost every window and door, which you stop noticing sooner than you would expect.
