The botanical garden was closed. Not for a holiday or repairs: they are building the Fiesta del Libro y la Cultura inside it, the city's book festival, in its twentieth year and running from 11 to 20 September.

Ten days, free entry, ten in the morning to nine at night, all of it among palms and orchids.

So I walked around the outside and saw what you can see over the fence: trees with crowns the size of a house, and people putting up tents for books.

I will come back in the middle of September.
