Right of way at the crossing exists only on paper
- Day of the journey
- 19
Pedestrians have right of way at a crossing, it is written into the law. In traffic they do not, and the police do not pursue it.
You cross by waiting for a gap and moving briskly. Watch the motorbikes above all: they ride between the lanes, so they appear exactly where you looked a second ago and saw nothing.
If someone does stop for you, wave and thank them. They have not met an obligation. They have done you a kindness.
