English

Forget about English. In Medellín you will get by in English almost nowhere. Only a small minority speaks it, mostly people higher up the ladder or those who work abroad or with foreign clients. And even the fact that somebody works in the United States does not mean they speak English. Colombians, and South Americans in general, build large communities there and inside them they speak Spanish and nothing else. Want to enjoy Colombia? Start working on your Spanish.
