Crepe de Pollo al Mexicano

I did not believe anything could be this good.

It is not an omelette, even though it looks like one. It is a thin French crêpe fried until crisp and folded into a bowl. Inside, pulled chicken breast in a creamy, gently spicy sauce. On top, freshly sliced avocado, strips of red pepper and shreds of something green that looks like grass and smells of citrus.

The whole thing works on contrast. Crisp crêpe against soft filling, warm sauce against cold avocado, spicy against fresh. None of it is complicated on its own, and together it lands so well that I sat there for a while not understanding.

On taste I would put it next to places that hold a star, and it cost a fraction. At home we call that value for money and it usually means something decent for little. Here it means something excellent for little, which is a different thing altogether.
